Abstract

The whole world has been suffering from the devastating effect of the Covid-19 virus. The global business, economy has been bitten very strongly. Indian economy and business are not the exception to this effect. The economic activities of the West Bengal has also been is affected are very badly affected. The handloom industry too has been severely harmed. Many weavers have lost their livelihood. Many Primary weavers cooperative societies (PWCSs) have been forced to shut down their activities. They have been facing a lot of challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The present study has tried to highlight the various challenges of Covid-19 faced and their possible future impact on the PWCSs in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The study finds that the PWCSs of the Nadia districts are in a miserable condition with lots of practical challenges of Covid-19. As a result, their conditions are deteriorating over the period.
