Abstract

Mahatma Gandhi played a significant role in removing stigma against lepers. It was due to his tireless efforts that fear and hatred of people against lepers was lessened. He was very much saddened on seeing the plight of lepers. So during his lifetime he worked in this field to remove sorrows of lepers and bring them into mainstream society. He made leprosy eradication as part of his eighteen constructive programmes. It was due to his efforts that lepers got attention and treatment opportunities for them.
