The main purpose behind writing this paper is to highlight the issue of abuse of power and stifling of the voice of dissent. How those in power can go to any extent to further their and vested interests has been vividly portrayed in the novel. George Orwell is famous for his straightforward way of writing and once again in this novel, we come across the prowess of Orwell as a bold writer. The story is set in the year 1984 and focusses on a dystopian country named Oceania, the capital of which is Airstrip One (Great Britain).
