Abstract

The Thadou tribe is located in the Chandel district of Manipur. Rice is their staple food and they are non-vegetarians and like to drink wine made from rice or corn. In general, their family is an inherently joint family. The marriage is referred to as neila through negotiation. Men usually wear loincloths. It's a bit like a "dhoti". Women wear "khamtang" loincloths that are wrapped around their waist and reach a little more than half of their thighs. Mithuns and pigs are butchered at the festival for the community's lavish feasting. Youth institution (Lom) means a traditional form of youth club.
