Abstract

Swami Achhutanand Harihar (1879-1933) was the first subaltern historian of pre-Independent India, who has been intentionally or unintentionally forgotten, never found his due mention anywhere in the practice of subaltern history writing. He has not been given his appropriate place and not dealt with fairly, thus it is unfortunate that he ceased to be exist in anyone’s memory now. He spent his entire childhood in military cantonments accompanied by soldiers of the lower ranks.
