Abstract

The study examined gender differences in cognitive distortions among alcoholics and non-alcoholics. Hundred participants (50 alcoholic and 50 non-alcoholic) were randomly selected from the rehabilitation centres of the Nagpur city. John Briere’s Cognitive Distortion Scales were administered to the participants to assess their degree of cognitive distortions. The data obtained were tabulated and analysed by the means of two way Anova. Analysis revealed that male and female participants differ significantly on the extent of cognitive distortions. Female subjects were found to have more cognitive distortion as compared to male subjects in both the groups.
