Abstract

The present study documents Thadous and livelihood:A sociological study in Chandel District of Manipur.The study is based on personal interviews of the selected respondents through interview schedule, personal observations and participatory rural appraisal tools i.e. semi-structure interview and focus group discussion carried out in the sample villages using multi-stage random sampling technique. Agricultural products are the main sources of earning way of Thadous.All the family members took part in the plantation in the paddy field, agriculture and even cultivation work.The economic activities included agriculture of both types such as terrace cultivation and jhum cultivation, and selling or barter of forest products, a little of cottage industries such as loin loom products, bamboo products, cane products, etcetera.
