Abstract

Education plays a key role in development of human beings into civilised beings. Since the ages of Rigveda and Upanishads our education system has evolved with time focusing on overall development of a child whether be it mental, physical or social. Our education system underwent transformation owing to the advent of British culture after we fell prey to colonialism. Examination system came into force as a result of colonial pedagogy overpowering the Indian traditional indigenous system of education way back in the beginning of 20th century. Since then examinations are considered as an instrument of evaluation and measurement of child’s performance and progress to meet the competitive global market of intellectuals. In order to meet the requirements of the global market examination reforms have been introduced by various committees from time to time.
