Abstract

Today mushroom is cultivated in more than 100 countries of the world and its production is increasing more than 7 percent annually. Today, the total mushroom production of the world has exceeded 5 million tonnes and is expected to reach 7 million tonnes in the next 10 years. In Europe and some countries of America, mushroom cultivation has taken the form of a high-tech industry in which large machines and computers are used. The countries of Europe play an important role in mushroom production, while the US leads the mushroom consumption. On the other hand, despite having all the facilities, India is neither a leader in production nor consumption of mushrooms. The present paper tries to produce an analysis on economical impact of mushroom cultivation.
