Abstract

National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) enacted by legislation on August 25, 2005 and it was renamed as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on 2nd October 2009. The MGNREGA has been completed sixteen years since its inception in India." The goal of the scheme is to improve the protection of households' livelihoods in rural capacities of the nation by providing at least 100 days of guaranteed jobs in each financial year for each adult member volunteers to do unskilled work. The goal of the study is to explore assess impact of the MGNREGA on social and economic empowerment of women in India.
