WORK STRESS AMONG CEMENT MANUFACTURING WORKERS IN THE SOUTHERN MALABAR REGION OF KERALA

Abstract

Cement manufacturing industry is being considered as one of the major sources of revenue in Kerala especially in Malabar Division. But the performance of this industry has been under stress. Stress has become an integral part of everyday life. Stress is generally indicated as a deviation from normal functioning of body and mind. Stress in limited quantity is beneficial to organization and employee as well. It helps to achieve personal as well as goals of organization. But stress in excess quantity can cause harmful effects on the body, mind and psychology of employees. Competing stressful situations in the workplace is a common incidence for all workers. This paper helps to explore the Work Stress among Cement manufacturing workers working in the southern Malabar region of Kerala State, India. For this purpose, 60 cement manufacturing workers in the southern Malabar region were selected. The objective of this paper is to study the concept of stress and its causes and analyse the level of stress among the cement manufacturing workers in the southern Malabar Region of Kerala. The study will be useful to draw policy changes in the related field.
