Abstract

The Pituitary gland of fresh water fish, Channa gachua is lable structure, dull whitish in colour, oval in shape. It lies ventral to the brain behind to the optic chiasma, attached closely mid ventral region to the floor of the infundibulum with no definite stalk. Within hypophysis of Channa gachua, glandular component, the adenohypophysis and nervous component, the pars nervosa or neurohypophysis are clearly distinguishable from each other.
