DEVELOPMENTAL PLANNING OF BEGUSARAI DISTRICT: A GEOGRAPHICAL APPROACH

Begusarai extends roughly from 25010' to 250 48' N latitudes and stretches from 85044' to 86032' E longitudes. A fairly compact area, the district is bounded on the north by Samastipur district while on the south it is broadly delimited by the Ganga river. The western border of the district is co-extensive with the districts of Samastipur and Patna while its eastern limit is set by Khagaria district. Land has a special significance particularly is a rural society such as this where civilization firstly, grew in river alluvia and in which cultivation has been carried on since times immemorial. Agriculture obviously in almost the sole support of an overwhelming majority of the people and it remains the principal determinant in the socio-economic prosperity of a great majority of the masses
