Abstract
As per Academic Performance Indicator (API) identified by the UGC and approved by the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry of India, performance of a faculty is evaluated by means of their contribution to “Teaching, Learning and Evaluation”, “professional performance” and “co-curricular activities”. Through this study the above dimensions of performance are measured. The study, predominantly descriptive and cross-sectional in nature, focuses on Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors from various Post Graduate Management Institutions in Bengaluru, India. The performance of female teachers in all the above area is found to be higher and found to be significantly different from that of male teachers. It is also found that there is significant difference among professional performance of teachers when comparisons are made based on years of experience and gender.
