Abstract

Aftermath the sixty years of Independence of India even could not provide a sustainable livelihood to the ethnic and indigenous PVTGS i.e. Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups tribals of our country and still they are reeling under enormous problems in maintaining their livelihood and saving their ethnic identity. The study presents a glimpse of the government’s beneficial programs run by the Chhattisgarh government for the Pahari Korwa tribes in Surguja district and the impact of their implementation. Such programs include for Indira Awaas Yojna, Pension Schemes, Forest Related development Programs, Skill Development Programs, Land Reforms, Medical Treatment Schemes, Agricultural Development programs etc. Major findings of the study implicates that a very few percentage of the sample demography under study are able to benefit from such government run programs. The poor outcome of such programs indicates the lack of governments drive in proper planning and execution of the same for upliftment of Pahari Korwa tribes in the region.
