And from the clumsiness and difficulty of barter, a clumsiness and difficulty of which we, with our bills, cheques, notes and ever ready change can scarcely conceive the invention of money naturally and inevitably developed. As technology is bringing in disruptive innovation in every service sector, commercial banks are facing immense pressure to keep up the pace with technology and service delivery. These change has brought a fundamental shift in the way banking operations is conducted. The rapid transformation is providing impetus to respond to the forces of productivity, efficiency, reduced operating margins and better asset quality. The major challenge of banks is to improve margins, provide effective service when the world is looking for any-where banking. The customers are looking at commercial banks for extra mile service and hassle free banking. There is an imperative need for not mere technology up gradation but also its integration with the general way of functioning of banks to give them an edge in respect of services provided to optimizing the use of funds and building up MIS for decision making and better management of assets as a whole.
