Abstract

Children with autism face a variety of difficulties when they interact with same-aged peers and adults in their schools and communities. They require support from their parents in carrying out the day to day task since they lack functional skills. So, parents often spend their time in caring for their children. This creates many adjustment problems in their life and hence they experience low life satisfaction. This paper looks into the causes of autism, prevalence, characteristics and functional skills of children with autism; and its significance on the parent’s adjustments and life satisfaction.
