Abstract

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has been an organization which is present every time India suffers a crisis or a calamity. The swayamsevaks are silent workers who do not want fame or power but consider working at a grass-root as their duty towards their countrymen. In spite of being celebrated, their image has been misconstrued in historical writing or have been altogether absent. The swayamsevaks met a similar fate during the partition of India. Indian independence instead of being celebrated is marked with blood because of partition of India into two nations: India and Pakistan. The government of India and many other voluntary bodies did their bit to ensure smooth transfer of power. One such institution which silently worked was Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. This paper is to highlight the importance of the work carried out by them and bring them back into mainstream discourse on partition.
