INNOVATIVE PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES IN COMMERCE

Abstract

In the era of Fourth Industrial Revolution when the India economy is shifting from Knowledge based Economy to Innovation based Economy, the Education sector holds a big responsibility to prepare the future and present human resources for the upcoming change and sustain through it. If the human resources of India has to be developed who can contribute to their lives and to the economy of the India, then the content of “commerce” as a subject cannot be left behind. Commerce deals with Tax, Finance, business, entrepreneurs, accounting, Trading, FDI etc. Commerce as an umbrella term includes so many areas without which no economy can progress. Thus, creating interest in commerce as a subject from secondary level to tertiary level is of paramount importance. The in-service and prospective teachers need to shift their perspective from “helping the students to learn” to “enabling students to proactively learn”. This paper discusses various innovative teaching approaches which can make commerce pedagogic philosophy more pragmatic. Innovative approaches in this paper includes : Teaching commerce through gamification ,Flipped classrooms, Multi-disciplinary collaborative group learning, MOOC’s etc.
