CASE STUDY ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN ALIPURDUAR DISTRICT ( WEST BENGAL)

Abstract

Violence against Women is a major threat in West Bengal. Unfortunately, despite remarkable achievements in the field of women development incidence of violence against women is still a burning issue in West Bengal. This study is a simple try to make sense and focus on the types, reason and recommendations on Domestic Violence in Alipurduar District of North Bengal region in the state of West Bengal. The region is well known for its natural beauty and tourist spots and despite this there is a tremendous increase in violence against women cases. So a cross sectional observational study was undertaken by interviewing selected adults both female and male from rural and urban areas of Alipurduar District with the help of pre- designed and pre – tested questionnaire.
