Abstract

The tribals (STs) constitute 8.2% of the total population of India as per the 2011 census report. They are more or less found in every state and union territory except Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Pondicherry. The tribal people who are treated as the earliest among the present inhabitants of India have survived here with their unchanging ways of life for centuries.
