Abstract

Caste system has given Indian society a distinguished identity and a unique social structure with a system of thought, a way of life, and sense of direction. Castes had its ethnic roots as denoted by Jati, and a ritualistic and symbolic significance in its Varna aspect. It is one of the dominant features running through its entire social fabric.
