Abstract

Parveen Shakir is one of the most celebrated women poets of the twentieth century. The women in the South Asian countries as opposed to the women of the West have always been considered as submissive, small, oppressed and backward. In a thoroughly male dominated country like Pakistan and India woman’s creative genius has been crushed under the feet of this patriarchal society.
