Abstract

Interest in fishing and fish eating dates back to prehistoric times. The people of Burzaham in present day Kashmir were the Neolithic settlement that had the fishing economy. Fishing supplemented the Neolithic livelihood in addition to Agriculture. Thus, Fisheries and Agriculture have evolved simultaneously in the history of human civilization since Neolithic culture; Fishing in the rivers, lakes and sea coasts is one among the major occupations of Neolithic people.
