Abstract

This paper is an attempt to focus India’s strategy of Necklace of Diamonds Policy which counters China’s String of Pearls Policy. With the changing geo-political, geo-economic, geo-strategic landscape of Indo-Pacific map India appears as a major actor in ensuring the security and stability of Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and of adjoining regions of Southeast Asia and South Pacific. In this connection, it is necessary to mention that in the beginning of 21st century India has emerged as a new look with her plangent economy, sound geopolitics and well-equipped military outfit. A closer alignment towards the USA took place as a trade partner. In addition, India is very much curious to uphold her interest on South China Sea (SCS) when India and ASEAN countries tied the engagement as a strategic partner. India’s Look East Policy is an important aspect of strategic autonomy in its foreign policy.
