Abstract

The learning needs of the learner has changed with times. Today the need of 21st century learners are diverse which need to be catered by the combined efforts of stakeholders by developing understanding of their own learning. The curriculum and classrooms have to be designed to prepare learners who will be responsible for their own learning. To create such learners it is essential that teaching-learning be taken beyond the boundaries of classroom and curriculum. It is essential that self-regulated learning be promoted at secondary stage to promote life-long learning as it is the need of global knowledge society. Developing self-regulation in learners requires practice and it develops with time. The various phases of self-regulation work in an continuum under the influence of certain factors till the efficacy of the task is realised.
