Abstract

The prime fission of human beings as men and women apparently attribute their masculine and feminine characteristics. Where as it has been observed that males are not always masculine and females are not feminine because masculinity and femininity depends on the roles they play in the society. The biological constitution and hormonal secretion makes the male and the female but the unique service they contribute in the society earned their name as masculine and feminine. At the outset of civilization struggle for existence was very difficult and men occupied leading position as it was the need of the days. Medieval period witnessed tortures, subjugation and repression in the aftermath war time that mainly targeted on the vanquished women considering them consumer durables. Most of the time intelligence and technique require achieving success and it is a verified hypothesis that females are inherently equivalent or somehow more dexterous with respect to their male counterpart. History shows their military participation and war activities. They are also born with leadership and entrepreneurial efficiency. But equally they also have to wage war of existence against the ill treatment of the patriarchs. Myriad of literary texts, from ‘The Vindication of the Right to Women’ to ‘The Left Hand of Darkness’, raised voice against gender discrimination and propagate gender equality.
