Abstract

This paper will try to analyse the idea of metaphor and gerontology in Naquib Mahfouz’s Nobel prize winning novel The Cairo Trilogy. This novel is set in Egypt. It traces the journey of a family through three different generations amidst the political turmoil in Egypt. This paper will also try to deconstruct the idea of ageing and conventional tropes related to aged people.
